So I was wondering if there was an app or anything where you can put in a sentence and it shows you how to sign it correctly

I know that I need to learn on my own how to put together sentences and that's the main goal but there are some things I'm confused about when trying to make a sentence and being able to see the sentence I feel like would help

Like I wanna learn "I'm new to sign can u sign slower" or "I'm new to sign can u spell that"

And even though I haven't been able to do much learning new words any apps I've used or videos I've watched (I've watched 5 so maybe that's why) They haven't taught that and I know how to do them separately, but I know some signs when put into a sentence aren't the same as they are alone (At least I think) and wanna make sure if i need to use sign before Im a master at it ill be able to understand someone when they try and talk to me

(I REALLY hope this makes sense and doesn't come off as rude)

I believe you should learn as much vocab as you can and apply it as best you can through actual conversation with other signers. Don’t go into this so ridget unless you plan on becoming a certified ASL interpreter. I say this because in my experiences signing is similar to English in regards to we all talk different and have a different vocabulary based off how and where we were raised and our life experiences. I’ve interacted with folks who sign with a direct English to ASL style and I’ve interacted with folks who utilize the time-noun- noun-modifier-verb-secondary object structure. I’ve interacted with CODA’s who utilize signs created within their family unit that they will have to define for you. I’m not the example to follow nor an authority, I just suggest you be as flexible as possible when it comes to applying format and put the bulk of your focus on effective communication with whom you interact.

That is the plan, but some words or things I wanna learn like I said so I can tell people or explain how I'm new to sign or if I need someone to spell a sign I don't know, I know how to ask that I'm not learning for anyone tbh, I just wanna be able to do it and a bit for myself But learning the full sentence will help and that's how I have been learning the ABCs and the numbers and doing it one by one is honestly too slow for me BUTTT I do understand what you mean

well there is this app called hand talk where you can type in a sentence and an avatar will sign it back to you. I didn't know if it's 100% accurate though. some one more experienced than me would have to determine that honestly though what I use most is just Google look how to sign things there is usually a video out there that some one made for most things.

Check out lifeprint.com it puts everything together and is completely for free from Dr Bill Vicars. I use it as my primary learning source and then this app as quick 5 min learning. Lifeprint is the way to go but best in a laptop or desktop

nothing wrong if you use it on your phone just not as user friendly. Look at both, phone and laptop, and you’ll see what I mean. I highly recommend it!

when I come across a sign someone signed that I don’t know I sign that sign back to them and also sign the word meaning. https://www.signasl.org/sign/meaning#euyfh7tviw. They will usually finger spell that sign for you. and vise versa

if you make a sign I don’t understand, I repeat that sign back to you followed by the sign “meaning” making my eye brows down is asking you to define that sign because I don’t know what that sing is. You would either describe it with other signs or finger spell it. Or I could repeat the sing back to you then make the sign for “finger spell” making my eye brows down which ask you to spell that word for me. I don’t remember this app teaching facial expressions but hand when you asking a question that contains Who, What, When, Where, How or Why you scrunch you eye brows down. When you ask a Yes or No question you lift you eye brows up. What I was taught many years ago was the signs themselves are seen out of you perifferial vision and you should primarily look at the signers facial expressions. The are a number of facial expressions that I know this app does not teach.

Yes! I use Pocket Sign and it shows you step by step how to sign that sentence. You can also do sign language language lessons on it. but you have to pay for it so I just use InterSign

Signing the Sign

Learning a few ASL signs used in Christian worship can help share faith in a clear and meaningful way. • God – An open hand moves upward from the forehead. The motion points upward, symbolizing God above us. • Jesus – The middle finger touches the center of each palm. This represents the nail wounds from the crucifixion. • Pray – Hands together near the chin in a prayer position, representing speaking to God. • Church – Fingers interlock, symbolizing believers gathered together as one body. • Bible – Hands open like a book, representing the Scriptures being read and shared. • Holy Spirit – A hand moves outward from the mouth like breath or wind, reflecting how Scripture often describes the Spirit. These signs are simple, meaningful, and a beautiful way to express faith through American Sign Language. What is your favorite sign?🤔🤔🔥

New to ASL

I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.
