my area has a deaf litteracy council. They are based in a local library and offer classes for toddlers to learn ASL as well as story time. I have been attending the adult classes and we have many children from kindergarten through high school that attend the ASL classes. Maybe there is something like this available in your area. Check with your local library or school system. most classes are free to attend and paid for by local taxes.

I just learned there is a local church with a large deaf community- they offer free ASL classes to help build community within their congregation. They are also offering free classes for attendees. it is another great option to look for.

I go to YouTube and they have a bunch of sign videos that are about stories, learning colors are just random items for kids or babies that's what I like to use for my baby brother ( we're both hearing as well)! Hope that helps sorry I couldn't call to mind the YouTube channels.

Just saying Hi👋👋👋

Hi👋👋 I am new here I am hearing but I have been around sign language all my life since I was little. I want to say that ASL is a way that all of God's people to be able to communicate. Hearing or not. I thank God for this app and for the ability to learn Asl.

Signing the Sign

Learning a few ASL signs used in Christian worship can help share faith in a clear and meaningful way. • God – An open hand moves upward from the forehead. The motion points upward, symbolizing God above us. • Jesus – The middle finger touches the center of each palm. This represents the nail wounds from the crucifixion. • Pray – Hands together near the chin in a prayer position, representing speaking to God. • Church – Fingers interlock, symbolizing believers gathered together as one body. • Bible – Hands open like a book, representing the Scriptures being read and shared. • Holy Spirit – A hand moves outward from the mouth like breath or wind, reflecting how Scripture often describes the Spirit. These signs are simple, meaningful, and a beautiful way to express faith through American Sign Language. What is your favorite sign?🤔🤔🔥

New to ASL

I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.
