I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.

you could always hold you hands out, or me and my friends will have the non dominant hand out and the dominant hand turned to the side and hit the open palm

Great Replys ASL community 😍 Another suggestion for signing the next word you could sign next or choose a sign you like cool with the understanding it means I'm signing the next word the more you master ASLπŸ˜€the more natural your conversations will become and he'll instinctively understand the difference between the words 😘
