How can I better memorize the signs that I’m learning I’m the only one in my household learning ASL and I have a hard time remembering signs for later. Any tips?

If you want to work extra hard, give yourself little tests throughout the day where you write down all the signs you’ve learned and go through the list trying to sign them all. Also, practice making sentences using the ASL grammar structure and practice signing those as well.

I’m learning alone also. While I drive around I finger spell words I see while I’m driving. street signs, license plates etc. I do the same while sitting somewhere like the doctors office. if I’m alone I talk out loud to my self and I try to sign what I say as much as possible. It will not be in proper ASL format but it helps me remember and apply the signs I’ve learned.

I click on the dictionary icon and go to the glossary to quiz myself on various categories Ive learned.

I memorized the alphabet by finger spelling random words throughout the day. I have a harder time learning actual words but I would recommend signing to yourself when you have free time or even signing to others while you speak, just to get some practice

Just saying Hi👋👋👋

Hi👋👋 I am new here I am hearing but I have been around sign language all my life since I was little. I want to say that ASL is a way that all of God's people to be able to communicate. Hearing or not. I thank God for this app and for the ability to learn Asl.

Signing the Sign

Learning a few ASL signs used in Christian worship can help share faith in a clear and meaningful way. • God – An open hand moves upward from the forehead. The motion points upward, symbolizing God above us. • Jesus – The middle finger touches the center of each palm. This represents the nail wounds from the crucifixion. • Pray – Hands together near the chin in a prayer position, representing speaking to God. • Church – Fingers interlock, symbolizing believers gathered together as one body. • Bible – Hands open like a book, representing the Scriptures being read and shared. • Holy Spirit – A hand moves outward from the mouth like breath or wind, reflecting how Scripture often describes the Spirit. These signs are simple, meaningful, and a beautiful way to express faith through American Sign Language. What is your favorite sign?🤔🤔🔥

New to ASL

I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.
