Is it just me or do you hate it when someone is counting with there fingers and they do 6 in asl instead of 3 like it always messes with my brain.

You're definitely not the only one! 😄 In ASL, the palm orientation and finger positions are standardized for clarity and communication. For example, the ASL sign for 3 is typically made with the thumb, index, and middle fingers, while 6 is made by touching the thumb to the pinky. So if someone uses the ASL sign for 6 when they mean "three," it can definitely cause confusion for fluent signers. Like any language, ASL has its own conventions, and with practice your brain will start switching between them more naturally! 🤟

Learning a few ASL signs used in Christian worship can help share faith in a clear and meaningful way. • God – An open hand moves upward from the forehead. The motion points upward, symbolizing God above us. • Jesus – The middle finger touches the center of each palm. This represents the nail wounds from the crucifixion. • Pray – Hands together near the chin in a prayer position, representing speaking to God. • Church – Fingers interlock, symbolizing believers gathered together as one body. • Bible – Hands open like a book, representing the Scriptures being read and shared. • Holy Spirit – A hand moves outward from the mouth like breath or wind, reflecting how Scripture often describes the Spirit. Just saying Hi👋👋👋

Hi👋👋 I am new here I am hearing but I have been around sign language all my life since I was little. I want to say that ASL is a way that all of God's people to be able to communicate. Hearing or not. I thank God for this app and for the ability to learn Asl.

New to ASL

I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.
