When they sign m or n and they have there fingers pointing out is that the way you are supposed to do it cause I have seen it other ways.

As far as i know, you are not supposed to do it that way. Think of it as holding up a fist and then just putting your thumb under 3 or 2 fingers, while keeping to original fist shape

yeah that threw me off at first too since I have never seen anyone do it like that in any other app. I think they are just doing it like that so it's easier for us to see and tell the difference between m & n because they can look similar especially when some one is signing fast. that's just a guess though.

m is 3 fingers pointing out and n is 2 fingers pointing out with both of the signs having the thumb tucked under the fingers pointed out

From my understanding, it's either or. People have subtle differences in their signing style, kinda like accents in English. I think they're also doing that to help you practice with a more clear difference.

you can do it either way. It’s just it’s easier if you have your finger sticking out because it distinguishes it from other sides that might be like that

Signing the Sign

Hi👋👋 I am new here I am hearing but I have been around sign language all my life since I was little. I want to say that ASL is a way that all of God's people to be able to communicate. Hearing or not. I thank God for this app and for the ability to learn Asl.

New to ASL
I am not hearing impaired but am speech impaired. My husband is not speech impaired and is not deaf but is quite hard of hearing. I have unilateral vocal chord paralysis with weak voice and tendency for laryngospasms. We just started learning the alphabet and can only fingerspell slowly. He is not speech impaired. Plan is, he will read my signs and speak for me in public. Am on Section 1, ABC 2. Have learned 19 of 26 letters. Years of learning still ahead but one step at a time.
