Using other apps I have seen lots of different signs being used- some people use slightly different variations. do I need to learn all of them or are some incorrect? Also will deaf people understand if I only know or use one?

the signs for different states are different like the sign for a living fish is different from the fish you eat, bag changes depending on whether its a carrier or a backpack id recommend using a sign dictionary app or multiple to learn the difference

There are regional differences between signs. This has become very apparent to me learning in Edinburgh, where there are different signs for 6-10 than in Glasgow. As with spoken languages I guess D/deaf sign users will know the signs they are familiar with that are used around them, new ones can be finger spelled to introduce them. If you are looking to communicate with sign users local to you, I think you need to learn from a local sign user. I learned last week that Edinburgh sign users dont like the sign used by some English BSL apps to say 'Edinburgh'. Look up 'BSL Sign Corpus' which is a collection of local variations on signs.
Make it so you can practice to earn heart bits or just completely remove them and resort to hearts, each time you get a question wrong you lose a heart (or you could do the same thing with bits, with each questions answered incorrectly, you lose a bit).
So I am not deaf and have no experience with bsl but I want to learn, and I am wondering if there is a specific hand I should be using because I don’t want to be wrong
