For the ASL hearing community, what made you pursue learning ASL?

first of all i always found it interesting so I finally decided to start learning this summer, and second of all I want to be a pediatric oncology nurse but to get there I'll probably have to work in multiple departments at the hospital and i really want to be able to communicate with any deaf kids I meet to help them feel safe and loved.

BTW a pediatric oncology nurse is a nurse for kids with cancer 🙂

I just started a few days ago and I'm doing it because it actually feels like I'm learning something and seems fun, maybe someday ill meet a deaf person and be able to communicate with them, who knows, but it is very fun.

I think it’s such a beautiful language and I’m finding it so much more fun to learn than any other language I’ve learned in the past. My cousins and I all decided we would learn ASL together so we can talk to each other in sign to practice.

Profile Pictures
Okay so this might not be that big of a deal, but, I wish that they had black people or P.O.C in general as profile pictures for everybody not just when you reach a certain level in the app. Currently my profile pictures of a white girl and I'm not white and, I just wish it was different because on other apps, I can customize my profile picture to any character that resembles me most and even, customize little characters. I just think that when it comes to your ethnicity or race, that shouldn't be something that you have to earn in the app. What do you guys think? 🙏🏾🌻
