One of the first things you should learn how to sign is your name because that one of the first things you are going to do in communicating is exchange names. You fingerspell your name. Don’t focus on speed. Take your time and focus on accuracy. speed will come in time. if you interact with the deaf community enough a deaf person will give you a sign name which more times than not will not be based off your actual name but a physical feature or characteristic of yourself. Courtesy dictates that your sign name is given to you not created by you. Once you have a sign name further introductions start by finger spelling your actual name followed by the sign of your sign name. I am hearing but started learning sign language because my grandson was born nonverbal. Being given a sign name is an honor but it’s based off the community or environment your in. introducing yourself to some not from that community or environment may require an explanation of how you got your sign name if your sign name is not based off something obvious about you.

It’s not about having a sign that represents your name. You sign name if given to you by a deaf person is a quick way to identify you if they are talking about you to someone else. for instant A girl in my ASL class, her name was Jacklyn. She had long black curly hair. The sign name given to her was the little finger pointing to her hair and spiraling down. She was the only girl in the group who had long hair so that created motion was an easy way to reference her.

The fix is being applied in phases due to the number of affected users, so you should see your updated rank within the next 48 hours. All impacted users have also been promoted one league division. First, let me congratulate all of the people sitting here at Grand Champion this week. 🥳🎉 Next, I think the novelty of competition has worn off now. The anxiety of competing against 4 people to stay in the top 2 will be my undoing. That's too much stress. 🤣 I'll still keep my streak but, I think it's time for me to find another place to learn more so I can truly be fluent. Afterall, I'm doing this so I can teach my deaf son since cochlear repeatedly fails him. Again, congrats. You all are doing great. 🥰🤗
