1. Find a ministry or a program for the deaf get some connections with other deaf or hard of hearing ASL learners. 2. Have fun go in the mirror and practice conversations and your facial cues. 3. Practice,Practice!!!!๐๐๐

Quick ASL Structure Tips โ๐ฃ๏ธ Topic-Comment Structure Start with the topic, then give the comment. Example: โYour book, I read.โ (Not: โI read your book.โ) Time-Topic-Comment If including time, put it first. Example: โTomorrow, I go store.โ No โis/areโ ASL often drops โto beโ verbs. Example: โHe happyโ instead of โHe is happy.โ Use facial expressions Raise eyebrows for yes/no questions Furrow brows for WH-questions (who, what, where, why) Use classifiers Show size, shape, or movement with handshapes, not extra words. Keep signs in logical order Subject โ Verb โ Object is common but flexible.

I would really like to learn grammar and sentence structure. I know a little but I mainly sign English word for word.
I am wondering whenโฆ *The person you are talking about is not present* Say your in a conversation and your talking about โhimโ or โherโ, do you specify in the conversation, โgirlโ before you point on the side of you or โboyโ to be specific in who you are talking about? Thx
Hello intersign! I've only recently started learning ASL and was wonder if anyone has any tips for remembering the different grammer rules and general structure of ASL. I find that whenever I try to practice, I always accidentally slip into English structure. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!
If you have to sign topic words first, and there's a sentence about 2 things, what's the sign going first?
Does anyone know what the nongendered sign for partner / lover / boyfriend / girlfriend is? I've heard the middle of the face is used for nonbinary people sometimes (rather than the forehead for male signs and the chin for female signs) but I don't know the specific hand motion. Thanks!
