The innocent explanation is that all the “early” players live in earlier time zones, since the reset occurs at midnight on YOUR clock, not at midnight on some central ISL server. Halifax residents have a huge advantage over anyone in the US. But Addis Ababa gets many hours head start. Of course I would never suggest you change your phone’s time setting on Saturday evening - none of this is that important. But, it certainly can be frustrating. I feel your pain and expect to see you tomorrow in Champions III again! Mike.

That's what I figured too because it was at least 2 hours before midnight here. It's frustrating to keep your place to just be knocked down before you can even play but, it is what it is. Yes, I'll see you at Champion 3 tomorrow.

I finished in Grand Champions League one week in second place, clearly above the “Defending Their Crown” line. I definitely won my 900 shards, but was demoted to Champions III instead of “defending”. I have been in Grand C a few times, but never two weeks in a row. I was trying to confirm if there was a Gr Ch II or what happens if you are actually “defending” from Grand Champion. I did my Sunday lessons just after midnight, but #1 was an earlier time zone, so I had to settle for second place. Banner for GC said “top 2 rank up to the next tier“ (other weeks said top 4 rank up, depending on how many were in the GC level). Well, I still don’t know what happens for a rank up or second week in Grand Champion, since I was demoted while “Defending My Crown”, even though I was in second place. Being in a disadvantaged time zone, and not wanting to reset my phone clock, I’ll likely never find out why happens when you Defend Your Crown. Oh well, the lesson for me is “don’t sweat the league standings”. Focus on the learing, especially since league standings can seem arbitrary. Previous weeks I assumed I might stay in Grand Champion, since I was below “Defending”, but safely above “at risk“, but ended up demoted those times as well. I continue lessons for the sake of repetition and reinforcement, but the league thing is no longer motivating.

That's kinda crazy. It was so motivating to climb to the top but, trying to stay up on any of them is just stressful now. Even my daughter is struggling and she only does 1 lesson a day. I regret even participating that way. Without the motivation of leveling up, new kessons, and the leagues it's lost it's appeal. I don't have it in me to keep battling the same 5 or 6 people. 🤷‍♀️

It did feel like a competition to me, at first. And it has always been somewhat motivational to “advance” in the leagues. But I do see it, as you said, as being in a little community of 5 or 6, observing who might be more obsessive than me about the standings, and enjoying their (and your) successes to some degree. I don’t need the stress of a daily or weekly battle, so I try to keep this in perspective. I’m pleased that the mods let us have a conversation. In terms of entertainment, this Community Forum greatly compensates for the league silliness. Mike. Texas.

Hello! 👀 We've been reading all your comments We agree, the UI is unclear when it comes to the Grand Champion league. Since it's the highest league, it only has one tier. Players in the "Defending Your Crown" section stay in Grand Champion, while everyone else is demoted back to Champions III. We'll be updating the UI to make it much clearer. We've also received several reports about the time zone issue, and we completely agree that it's something that needs improving. We're already working on ideas to make league endings fairer for everyone, regardless of where they live. 🌍 Another improvement we've got planned is adding tie-breakers for players who finish with the same score.
