Learing, Support, and Connecting with others
I am Chris, School Counselor/504 Coordinator & LPC-Intern Angelo State University, in Texas who's also DHH- hard of hearing bilaterally. From childhood- late adolescence I used hearing aids, but for family religious reasons wasn't able to participate in ASL classes. As an adult I currently use hearing aids bilaterally, but I knew I lacked the strength in the area of ASL Sign Language communication and interpretation. Moving forward, I want to provide one more additional support for my students, as well as for myself. I look forward to meeting others and hope there are learning communities.
How fast to learn
Hi guys, so…basically I had an audition I was doing, and I used sign language in it. If I do get accepted, though, I need to at least understand sign language. Please tell me how I can learn it better and faster. I can’t use money sadly, since my parents said no.
colors
The written description for red doesn't match what us being signed.
Difference between signs
What's the difference between signing avocado and pineapple? They look nearly identical.
best asl apps
So I was wondering if there was an app or anything where you can put in a sentence and it shows you how to sign it correctly I know that I need to learn on my own how to put together sentences and that's the main goal but there are some things I'm confused about when trying to make a sentence and being able to see the sentence I feel like would help Like I wanna learn "I'm new to sign can u sign slower" or "I'm new to sign can u spell that" And even though I haven't been able to do much learning new words any apps I've used or videos I've watched (I've watched 5 so maybe that's why) They haven't taught that and I know how to do them separately, but I know some signs when put into a sentence aren't the same as they are alone (At least I think) and wanna make sure if i need to use sign before Im a master at it ill be able to understand someone when they try and talk to me (I REALLY hope this makes sense and doesn't come off as rude)
is there any Canadian sign language?
I live in Canada just wanna know if there is a CSL (Canadian sign language) or if it’s just ASL? ❤️❤️❤️

Extra Learning
I’ve been using this app which helps with quick daily learning/review. I’ve used Lifeprint.com as my main source of learning and it’s been amazing! Check it out sometime and thank me later 😁
More lessons after section 17 in The Basics in Motion
There 17 sections in the Intersign app, What happens after completing all the sections up to section 17?
Signing the Sign
Learning a few ASL signs used in Christian worship can help share faith in a clear and meaningful way. • God – An open hand moves upward from the forehead. The motion points upward, symbolizing God above us. • Jesus – The middle finger touches the center of each palm. This represents the nail wounds from the crucifixion. • Pray – Hands together near the chin in a prayer position, representing speaking to God. • Church – Fingers interlock, symbolizing believers gathered together as one body. • Bible – Hands open like a book, representing the Scriptures being read and shared. • Holy Spirit – A hand moves outward from the mouth like breath or wind, reflecting how Scripture often describes the Spirit. These signs are simple, meaningful, and a beautiful way to express faith through American Sign Language. What is your favorite sign?🤔🤔🔥
Now what?
So, my husband and I have completed all the lessons. Any suggestions on what's next?
