In section 16 in the technology signs, blue tooth is finger spelled. I kind of wondered why it is not a combination of the signs for blue and tooth. Sure would be easier.

I know you're supposed to get your sign name from a deaf person. My baby passed away at three months, and I hadn't gotten a chance to find the deaf community around me so she didn't get her name sign. I really would like for her to have a cool one. I want to be able to talk about her without finger spelling her name. I wasn't born deaf so I want to respect the culture. Does anyone know how I can get her name sign? Her name is Jaden. She was happy, curious, and calm. She loved music, being read to, baths, and her swing. She passed away due to a heart problem. I was learning ASL for her, but now I'm continuing to learn in memory of her, to be able to communicate with the deaf community, and because I'm having problems with my ears. Please if anyone can help I'd be so very thankful.

Hello everybody! So I just started ASL and having a blast with it. I know that we have in Germany GSL German Sign Language. I tried to find a good app where I also could learn GSL but I did not found any good ones. So did anybody visit Germany and knows if ASL also used there? If so? How was your experience? We were taught several country signs but not necessarily continent signs. Like we were taught South Africa, but we were not taught just Africa so I’m assuming the second portion of the South Africa sign would be the sign for Africa. That is the letter A shaped dominant hand that circles the face. In section 16, the first set of lessons on animals, in lesson four, there is a sentence to interpret and part of it is supposed to be able to interpret the continent that the rhino is on. The options given were Asia or Africa. There was a sign I didn’t understand that was used, so I thought well maybe that’s Asia because it didn’t look like Africa because it wasn’t the letter A circling the face. So I selected that rhinos could be found in Asia, and that was wrong. It was supposed to pick Africa, but the sign was not given for Africa in the video.

I am not deaf and I’d like to understand why half of the deaf community feels very protective over the concept of sign names and the other half feels very neutral towards it saying it’s just like a nickname.

The sentence to interpret was “Lily’s younger brother is getting taller.” I didn’t see where there is a sign for “getting.” I had interpreted it as “Lily’s younger brother is taller” which was considered wrong.
