hi I'm new here

I would love to connect with new people who are also trying to learn ASL. I could also just use the extra help because I want to learn how to communicate with my students at school.

Hi everyone I just found this cool app! I'm so excited! I used to be conversational in ASL when I was 14-15 but I haven't used it in about 5 years, I'm 20 now and can't remember most of what I knew! It's coming back quickly but in so excited to learn again!

Teens

Are there any teens on here, or am I the only one? Me and my cousin are a year apart and are learning asl, just wondering if anyone else here is our age. 😁

Why are you learning ASL?

What led you to start learning ASL? Do you have a friend or family member who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing you with the communicate with? Or have you just always been curious? Please comment your reason or story below! When I was young, my family was close friends with a Deaf family. I had some experience in a Deaf household, however I didn't learn more than the alphabet as the two daughters were both hearing. Ever since, I have wanted to learn. Now, in my mid-twenties, I started working in the school system. There is a little boy who is Deaf that I work with. His family does not sign, and he currently has no access to any language besides an AAC device that he doesn't understand or want. His family will not allow the school to send him to a specialized school for him to learn ASL. What little I have picked up from Deaf content creators and apps, I began trying to sign with him. Basics like socks and shoes, or time to go eat or go outside. He has responded well and everything is no longer a fight. He has also began communicating with me. Over the holiday break I have been trying to learn as much as I can to help him when we return. I want to be clear. The state just started sending someone in once a month for an hour to try to teach him ASL, but she's missed more sessions so far than she's made. I have zero intentions of trying to teach him ASL as I am not qualified. I am only hoping to communicate with him in some way to help him until he finally is able to learn in the future. I am looking forward to where 2026 takes me. I am looking into taking courses to become fluent. If anyone has any recommendations on that, I would love them. Please leave your story below, I'd love to read it.

Remembering Jesus Goodness in the New year

There are so many things that we go through from day to day and sometimes we don't realize how much God has brought us through. As we use this app and learn how to communicate with others let us remember the God who made us all and gives us life in 2026 and everyday to come. God bless sign on πŸ€ŸπŸΎπŸ€ŸπŸΎπŸ‘‹πŸΎπŸ‘‹πŸΎβœπŸΎ

Hello everyone

Hello. I'm trying to learn a song called "Million little miracles"by Maverick City...but I'm stuck on how to sign the sentence "nothing short of"a million miracle. Can someone be kind enough to help me out? TyπŸ™β˜ΊοΈ

The Sign "Big"

So I've started learning ASL not long ago and when I first learned big it was the hooked finger in a swirl going around her head but then in a sentence she did like a hooked finger downward. Can someone explain?

I am soon to be functionally deaf

Hello, my name is Kris and as the title states I am soon to be deaf as I have some inner ear issues that will require having the middle ear bones removed from my right ear and my left ear is already mostly deaf. I'm really enjoying learning ASL so far and I'm looking forward to being able to still hold conversations with some even though I won't really be able to hear. I hope everybody had a good Christmas and wish everybody a happy new year!
