sign Order
Still struggling with sign order. I am seeing the signs and I understand what is being said, but when I go to answer and I get it wrong, it’s because I’ve got a word out of order. Meanwhile I’m never taught what the actual order should be. There’s one section that talks about “topic then comment,” but there’s nothing in any of this process that actually provides education on how to do the order. And I have found it is not consistent either. There’s never an explanation as to what the actual answer is. I cannot learn if it never gives me the right answer. I go through the exam, I get a question wrong because I have a word out of order and it never tells me what the right answer is so I never learn. This needs to be fixed in this app.
i’m back
guys i am back after not being on here is months
not bragging..but 1 full year streak as if today!
Not bragging here but simply marking the achievement. Today I hit One full year streak for ASL lessons. It helps that I am retired but I wanted to make a point that you are NEVER too old to learn a new language. I wish there were more TV shows or Movies that used ASL.. Somebody should start a trend!
sentence order
Hey guys so I started learning a few weeks ago but i still don't understand sentence structure. It seems like sometimes the signs are in the order like you would speak but sometimes they're all mixed up. Can so.eone help me understand pls??? 😩🙏
Objects quiz
Hello! I am hearing, and new to learning ASL. I still struggle with the order and structure of ASL but I'm doing my best! In the Objects quiz, the first question is to translate "My car is black." No matter what I try, I get it wrong! I still passed the quiz, but since that was the only one I got wrong... it's bothering me and I would like to know to fix my mistake. What order should the signs come in? My first guess was My - Car - Black, but then I thought maybe Car would come first since it's the subject? Am I overthinking this?
Edmonton
Hi all. I recently signed up for notifications from the Deaf Culture Society in Edmonton for when they open enrollment their ASL class in September. Anyone else in the city going?
Video and sign Clarity
The video for “I want fruit for lunch” in section 4 is very hard to tell the signs. The sign for “I” is never given. For the sign for “lunch” it is too hard to see the L shape of the hand. I watched that video at least 8 times trying to figure out what the signs were and just had to guess because the signs were missing if not clear, even once I saw what the answer was, I watched it again and there is never a sign for “I.”
A cat named Grey
So there's this cat named Grey. Should I fingerspell the name or use the sign for grey? Would that count as a signname in which I should fingerspell or would I use the sign for grey?
What if I sign the wrong thing?
Idk if this is common knowledge but I genuinely don’t know. If I sign the wrong word in a conversation or the wrong letter while spelling, what do I do? I don’t want to confuse the person I’m talking to by suddenly changing my sentence mid-way through. Can someone give me advice? Thanks
it’s time
Hi there guys
sign order
I am not sure about sign order. One of the questions in a section exam is to pick the sign order for the phrase “My car is black.” I have tried every combination of selecting the signs for my, car, black … rearranging the signs like “car black my” or “my car black” or “car my black” … and none of them are correct. What is the correct order? My main critique of this app is that it does not adequately teach sentence structure. It mentions it like once and gives no continued instruction to understand how to handle new adjectives.
Have you!?!
Have any of you learned to sign your name yet? Or can you even do that? Do you have to spell it to sign it or is there a specific sign for your name? 🌠Bonus Question: if you could make a sign for your name what would it be, and also whats your name! (SHOUT OUT TO 💖🌸Carina García🌸💖 AGAIN FOR HAVING THE HIGHEST LEVEL KEEP IT UP CARINA!)
amazing
I love the ASL here, I am learning so much!
Grand Champion
First, let me congratulate all of the people sitting here at Grand Champion this week. 🥳🎉 Next, I think the novelty of competition has worn off now. The anxiety of competing against 4 people to stay in the top 2 will be my undoing. That's too much stress. 🤣 I'll still keep my streak but, I think it's time for me to find another place to learn more so I can truly be fluent. Afterall, I'm doing this so I can teach my deaf son since cochlear repeatedly fails him. Again, congrats. You all are doing great. 🥰🤗
SKIPPED IT!!💖
GUYS I SKIPPED ABC 3 !! IM SO HAPPY!! 🌟Bonus question: have any of you ever skipped a level if you have which one was it??🌟 (Whoever is on the highest level gets a shoutout!🙃)
Whats your fav sign?!?!??
Whats your favourite sign till now??? Mine personally is the letter "E" it just looks so goofy and easy to sign! What about you? (SHOUTOUT TO 💖🌸Carina Garcia🌸💖 for being the first comment!!)
Are you fluent yet?
How many words does everone know how to sign are you learning the abc's, food or jobs? What are you learning right now? (First to comment gets a shoutout🌠)
